BIOGRAPHY

Michael Menn lived in the Soviet Union during his school years and played the main role in the film "Deniskiny Rasskazy" (Deniskin's Stories) based on the stories of V. Y. Dragunsky. In the 1970s, he graduated from a music school with a classical guitar class. He performed as a member of VIA "Shkol'nye Gody" (School Years) as a singer and bass guitarist, as well as an author of music.

In 1986, together with the famous guitarist Alexei Tumanov, he created the rock band "Most" (Bridge). Michael Menn co-wrote most of the songs, sang and played bass guitar on the band's first album. Together with the popular songwriter Alexander Elin, Menn was the producer of the rock band "Primadonna", which won the Grand Prix at the All-Union music competition "Miss Rock 88" in Kiev.

As a composer and musician, Michael Menn gained international recognition in 2005 when the album Made in Moscow was released, which was worked on by legendary musicians Glenn Hughes and Joe Lynn Turner. The music for the album was composed by Michael Menn, and the lyrics were written by Joe Lynn Turner and Glenn Hughes. The album "Michael Menn Project. Made in Moscow" charted in Finland (#54 on Deezer Top 300 Releases) and Germany (#73 on iTunes Top 200).

Michael Menn is the initiator of a number of Russian festivals: the First Russian Guitar Music Festival, the Dubrava Music Jazz Festival, the International Film Festival named after Andrey Tarkovsky, the Plios Jazz Festival of modern jazz, the revived Rock Panorama Festival, the Black Rose International Music Festival, the Antifabrika interregional rock festival.

In 2006, Michael Menn, along with famous performers Grigory Leps, Alexander Marshal, Sergey Mazaev, Igor Sandler, Anatoly Alyoshin and others, took part in the recording of the official tribute album "People pro/to purple", which took 39th place in the Deezer Top 300 Releases chart in all genres.

In 2009, Michael Menn produced the group "Natsproekt" (National Project), which applied to participate in the international Eurovision Song Contest with the English-language song Last Call by Michael Menn, but did not pass all the stages of pre-selection.

Later, Michael Menn produced the rock band "Monoraga" and the Finnish singer Mariam Menn, releasing her album Popular Jewish Songs, available on all digital storefronts.

In 2016, Michael Menn initiated the revival of the legendary rock band "Kruiz" (Cruise). The band successfully gave several concerts, including at the Luzhniki Small Sports Arena. The updated Kruiz has released two albums: "Vozrozhdenie legendy. Live" (The Rebirth of a Legend. Live) and "Rock Panorama 2016. Live". However, after that, due to constant disagreements between the musicians, the band ceased to exist and split into several bands. Later, Michael Menn became interested in jazz and began to develop in its various directions. He participated in jams with famous Russian jazzmen such as saxophonists Alexey Kozlov and Sergey Golovnya, guitarist Alexey Kuznetsov, pianist and flutist Vladimir Nesterenko.

In 2017, Michael Menn, together with guitarist Dmitry Chetvergov, created the band ChetMen, which plays in a fusion style — a fusion of jazz, blues, funk, soul with elements of pop rock, art rock and ethnic music. Albums and singles by the ChetMen group have repeatedly occupied leading positions in Russian and foreign top charts. Thus, the song "Sarcasm" held the first place in the Russian iTunes Top 200 Tracks in the jazz category for a record three and a half weeks for this genre. The album "Dubrava Live" took fifth place in the iTunes Top 200 Tracks in the jazz category in France. In 2019, the Chetman band performed at the Septembre Musical Music Festival in Montreux (Switzerland).

Michael Menn also created the MM+ jazz trio, which performs classical works in a jazz arrangement. MM+ performed Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in her own jazz interpretation at Igor Butman's Sochi Jazz Festival.

In 2019, Michael Menn, together with musician Dmitry Chetvergov and entrepreneur Alexander Finkelstein, built the Moscow City Records recording studio, and also organized a record label of the same name and a production center.

Today, Michael Menn continues to practice as a professional musician, but is more positioned as a producer, composer and songwriter.
